Your questions, answered

Menopause fitness, active-aging strength, and exactly how sessions work across Molesey, Esher and Claygate.

Menopause fitness & wellbeing

Training through perimenopause and beyond

Hormones change how your body responds to training. Here's how we work with that rather than against it.

Can exercise really help with menopause symptoms?+

It won't switch symptoms off, but strength work and steady movement reliably help with sleep, mood, energy and joint stiffness — and they protect the bone and muscle that dip as oestrogen falls.

What if my energy is all over the place week to week?+

That's expected, and it's planned for. Some weeks we push and progress; other weeks we keep it lighter and focus on mobility and breathing. You'll never be pushed through a session your body isn't up for.

I'm carrying weight around my middle and nothing shifts. What now?+

We build strength and consistency first, because muscle is what changes how your body uses energy. Sessions are about capability rather than the scales, and the shape changes tend to follow.

Are you qualified to train women through menopause?+

Yes — I'm a qualified personal trainer and menopause fitness and wellbeing is one of my main specialisms. If anything sits outside my remit, I'll say so and suggest you speak to your GP.

Should I check with my doctor first?+

If you're managing a health condition, recovering from surgery or have been told to be careful with exercise, please do. Otherwise we start gently and build from where you actually are.

Active aging & longevity

Strength for the decades ahead

Active aging isn't about slowing down gracefully — it's about keeping a body that does what you ask of it.

What does active aging training actually involve?+

Progressive resistance work for bone and muscle, balance and single-leg work, and mobility through a full range — the things that keep you steady, strong and independent as the years go on.

I haven't exercised in years. Is it too late to start?+

No. Women starting in their forties, fifties and beyond see some of the biggest gains, because there's so much to build. We start with what you can do today and add from there.

Will lifting weights be bad for my joints?+

The opposite, when it's loaded sensibly. Well-programmed strength work supports joints, and most women find long-standing aches ease as the surrounding muscle gets stronger.

How often should I train to see a difference?+

Twice a week is the sweet spot for strength and bone. Most women notice their sleep and energy shift within about six weeks.

Do I need to buy equipment?+

No. I bring everything we need. Zero gym fees, zero kit to buy.

Molesey, Esher & Claygate sessions

How local sessions work

I come to you — your living room, your garden, or the local park anywhere in the four towns I cover.

Which areas do you cover?+

East Molesey, West Molesey, Esher and Claygate. Travel within those areas is included in the session price.

Where do sessions take place?+

Wherever suits you that day — your living room, the garden, or a local park. No changing rooms, no queues, no mirrors, no membership.

How much space do I need at home?+

Roughly the size of a yoga mat with room to stretch your arms out. A cleared corner of a lounge is plenty.

Can I train with a friend?+

Yes. Small group sessions run with three to four women and cost less per person, with the same close attention. Many clients start with a friend or two they already know.

What happens in the free consultation?+

A relaxed telephone call — what you want, what's been getting in the way, and how I can help. No kit and no obligation.

What about British weather?+

Outdoor sessions run in most weather, and if it turns genuinely grim we move indoors or reschedule. You'll never be left standing in a downpour.

How do I cancel or move a session?+

Just let me know at least 24 hours ahead and we'll find another slot. Life happens — I'd rather move a session than have you skip the week.
